Training

What:  8K, 10K, triathlon, marathon, CF sectionals, Warrior Dash
How:   Diet, Exercise, Sleep, Vitamin Supplements
I consider myself a neophyte when it comes to training.  I don’t know what the correct formula is for optimal performance.  I have no idea how far in advance to begin my training or create a schedule.  I should also admit that I am not sure that I know all of the variables that go into constructing this formula.
Do you have any competitions or races in your future?
When is it?
When will you start training?
Will you change your diet?
Do you stop alcohol consumption?
What is your plan man?!

  1. Hmmmm....I am training to be fine-er for my Vegas trip at the end of May. I think I will begin my "training" in March. Will probably go strict Paleo again. I noticed when I was Paleo that I could get wasted off of two drinks...I need that in my life again. I heard drinks are expensive in Vegas:) lol.

I am not sure if I need to formally train for the Warrior Dash. I have never done it, but I can easily run a 5k. I know there are activities involved along the way, so I may need to take a closer look at those. I would hope CF would help with most of the activities though.

Anyone that is formally training for a race what is your plan?

  2. I think your "How" works just fine in any order...

For me the difference is in the exercise volume/type and when it starts. I started up following the endurance crew training about a month back and the rowing competition is the end of this month. So maybe a couple months out. I just try to incorporate two of those workouts a week + the regularly scheduled work at construct. Seems to work for me. As it gets closer to the outdoor race season I'll probably add in another running day or two without overly killing myself.

Looking forward to being outside, thats for sure.

  3. Kelsey do you still run outside in the cold? How do you train for the marathon or do you run on a treadmill? I may want to start joining you (or trying to keep up.lol) on your runs. You are very motivating:)
