Travel WODs...hit me with your best shot.

ok i need some travel WOD ideas. here are some stipulations, though:

1. i have a jump rope
2. about 5 days ill be in resorts/hotels that most likely have gyms
2a. the gyms will at least have dumbbells, treadmills, and a pullup bar
2b. sometimes, at the resorts, there is actually a bench and a squat rack, maybe even a C2!
3. running is allowed, but if placed in a WOD, dont include stuff i would need in a gym as well

now, i know there are a million sites out there with travel wods already, i just wanted your ideas. long, medium, and short time domains are all welcome.

  1. Following up on JohnA's ergonomics discussion, MobilityWod had a post about that this week:

  2. @ drywall, i like your style...most sites i have seen 100 burpees for time...slackers. i figure the wheels would fall off around >50, so that is looking like ~10min time domain, add in the new construct burpee requirement and it is looking dreadful.

  3. what's the new burpee requirement?? i haven't been in and now i'm on vacation. slacker.

  4. I did 150 burpees in 9:50. Not with the new requirements, but with a respectable hangover. Have fun.

Ramsey - new Construct burpee requirements involve jumping 6 inches off the ground with arms fully extended. Basically a reasonably full jump, not a little bump off the ground. Significantly harder as you string a lot together.

  5. The few times I have not been able to make it in to the box (blizzard and such) I did the following:

    4 rounds
    1 mile run
    10 air sqauts
    10 burpees
    10 sit ups

instead of doing 1 mile each round, I went 1 mile, .75, .5 and .25 - doing the air squats, burpees and sit ups each time. Felt good!

  6. Man, I've been following Travel WODS for the past month since I've been out. Lately I've been taking the WODs posted and sub what I can do here.

One that I liked the other day was:
    100 Jacks (try sub w double-unders too)
    75 Squats
    50 push ups
    25 burpees for time

I've been spending more time warming up, which might include a run, Tabata squats etc.

  7. thanks dayo, that looks like a good middle time domain. definitely subbing the DUs, they need extra practice.

  8. One minute air squats
60-# of squats in pushups in the next minute
    One minute air squats
60-# of squats in pull ups in the next minute

    Repeat for 4 sets.

So if you get 50 squats in the first minute, you would have a minute to do 10 pushups. Early on it's easy to get 60 squats a minute but the wheels tend to fall off by the 10 minute mark.

  9. Another fun one is to pick 4 different body weight exercises (usually pullups, pushups, squats, and situps) and deal out a deck of cards, one card at a time. Each movement has its own suit, face cards are 10 reps and jokers are 20 burpees, so you end up doing 94 reps of everything and 40 burpees.

  11. If you have a pull up bar I am always a fan of 10min amrap of 5 pullup, 10 pushups, 15 squats.

I have also done 3 rounds of:
2 min run (it can be hard to judge distance so I went with time)
    50 air squats

I also like the 100 burpees & 100 situps (these are great because you can do it in a pinch and you don't need to leave your room).

  12. 200 situps for time, but on the minute do 20 feet of broad jumps and 4 burpees.
