Ever just have one of those "why in the hell didn't I think of that earlier" moments? I did this week and I'm way too excited about it. Let me elaborate.
Once I decided to boot the roommates and move in alone, I had to get rid of my grill and smoker due to lack of outdoor space. This made me sad, very sad. I didn't care what time of the year it was or how nasty it was outside, the grill was always on.
Shift a year to my new place and all I am left with is a Foreman and a stove. I like to cook, but I tend to keep stuff pretty simple. The Foreman was supposed to be my new friend, but I really hated how it cooked things and it just sat unused forever... until I discovered foil cooking on it.
I'm probably going to get tons of crap for using tin foil in the first place, but let me tell you, it is epic. Take a couple chicken breasts, spray foil with non-stick spray, toss in the breasts and throw some various peppers/vegetables on top, coat with seasoning, wrap that shit up and put it on the Foreman. 20 minutes later: instant awesome.
If you got a Foreman laying around and you lack a grill, have limited cooking time and don't enjoy cleaning... try it and report back. I promise you won't be disappointed!
Is this the big George Foreman? I have the personal sized one. I wonder if this would work for me. I haven't used that thing in years because I hate cleaning it. The foil would take care of the cleaning:)
ReplyDeleteCan you post a few more of your favorite meal recipes? You always seem to eat yummy stuff. I know you talked once about eating ground beef mixed with something and chicken with salsa. I am looking for quick and easy....yet TASTY meals:)
Yeah, its a smaller one. It should pretty well work on any of them.
ReplyDeleteAs for meals, I usually just mix a bunch of stuff together. I'm not very picky. It's just a matter of finding a good combination of stuff that I don't get tired of.
I could compete and probably win a Top Chef-George Foreman edition! I have never tried foil cooking, I will give it a try tonight. Thanks John!
ReplyDeleteAnyone going out drinking after todays WOD? I need a drink!
Taking 'er easy tonight... CIRC tomorrow bright and early. Should be fun, but not fun if hungover.
ReplyDeleteToday was chicken w/ broccoli, crushed red pepper, garlic, regular peptbper, and some spray oil. Came out amazing! A+ will eat again.

That's right, 30 obstacles and only 600m total running. No date yet for Chicago, but if you pre-register (just give them your email) they will give you a discount code.
I'm going to have to try this Foreman thing. I haven't used mine in years because I got sick of cleaning the damn thing. I'm guessing this also solves that problem.
ReplyDeleteHey Everyone! Just stopping by to say hi - missing u all. Hopefully will see you in a couple weeks
ReplyDeleteTried for Foreman thing for lunch. Taste good and clean up was easy. Only 2 issues:
ReplyDelete1. I added cheese from the start, which got everything stuck together, the non-stick spray didn't stand a chance. I'd advise adding cheese in the last couple minutes or even just put it on top when it is done.
2. 20 mins was a tad too long for mine. I only did one chicken breast though, so that could be why. Maybe 15-18 mins next time.
Regardless, I like it. I had a nice mix of chicken with pepper and a bit of soy with an orange pepper, onion, and pineapple with black pepper. Pepper jack cheese makes everything awesome.
2 smores for desert. This is probably my favorite snack food, though I also really like Subway's chocolate chip cookies. Also, rum.
Drywall, I applaud you.
