So let me start off by apologizing for the weak post, I am swamped with work and leave for a Conference in Denver tomorrow. Yet, I do want to make a quick few points. First, with the clean eating some of us have been doing for the past couple of weeks and months for others, we now have a relatively clean box! Derek, John G, and Big Eric were at the box until 7p last evening cleaning our lovely hellhole (so you may want to thank 'em when you see 'em). While I felt like the dust and dirt was part of who we were at the WL and gave the box some character, I am anal-retentive at heart. Second, I wanted to touch on performance during metcons and strength exercises. Everyone has different goals with the paleo diet and their lifestyle, as Kelsey put it so grandiosely yesterday, but for me, one of the main reasons I went paleo was to increase my metcon performance. I was sick of my times being towards the lower end of all the classes I attended. Since I have gone paleo, my endurance has increased tremendously and although I am still one of the weaker gentlemen at the box in terms of weights I "throw around", I have seen large gains in all lifts. Obviously, the contribution my diet makes toward this progress cannot be separated from the contribution obtained from crossfitting 5 days/week, but it cannot go unnoticed that my gains began when I switched my eating habits in mid-July...just sayin'
food log (it was a "hungry" day yesterday):
ReplyDelete6am: banana, apple, grapes, coffee
post wod: protein shake
12p: 0.6lb ground sirloin, pico, avocado, banana, almond butter
5p: 0.6lb ground sirloin, cucumber, tomato, green pepper; honey crisp apple
9p: celery and almond butter
@Tom...It's really encouraging to see how paleo is effecting your progress. Every positive report on this program from real people, and not just scientific studies, confirms in my mind that I'm eating the way our species is adapted to.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, and for the heads up about the newly polished box. I have to confess, things were getting a bit hairy (literally) in there. Will def thank the coaches.
Food is the usual through today, and probably tomorrow. Just started to get into ketosis according to this morning's test. Happy about that, just need to get into it a bit deeper before I can do veggies.
Nice post Tom. For me, I have actually slowed my met cons down. I am not saying it is because of Paleo, but because I think I am trying to focus more on improving my form and getting better results vs. my time being quicker. I think once I get the form completely down and I know I am doing things correctly, I will then rev up my met con times again. I have seen your form during met cons and it is not an issue that you need to worry about:) I personally just had to stop worrying about how fast I was finishing the WOD and be more concerned with if I was actually doing it correctly:) As I said in the last post, I will start posting my food log again tomorrow using Livestrong.com. I have stuck to the plan, but I haven't been keeping track of my intake.
ReplyDeleteHave a peaceful Sunday everyone!
